Who We Are

Black Public Relations Society-New York (BPRS-NY) is a knowledge, resource and opportunity network for African American communications professionals and students. We are an independent 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization affiliated with the National Black Public Relations Society.

Since its founding by PR legend Pat Tobin many years ago, The Society has pioneered advocacy initiatives for diversity and inclusion within public relations agencies and corporate communications departments.

Along with our partners, BPRS-NY is today leading a movement toward the practice of Conscious Diversity™, a program of impactful insights and practical tools designed to transcend barriers to equity for African American and all diverse practitioners.

As thought-leaders in a field that touches every aspect of business and culture, BPRS-NY is called upon to extend our advocacy and lend our voice to national and global diversity and inclusion conversations.

BPRS-NY is building for posterity. Our membership is comprised of students and young professionals, as well as managers and executives from all tiers, along with boutique agencies, communications entrepreneurs and consultants.

We offer invaluable signature programming in the areas of professional development, specialized technology training, dynamic speaker series, discussion forums, peer-to-peer support and mentoring initiatives.

Our networking events and showcase platforms for individuals and diverse owned agencies bring together and inspire industry decision makers and top-notch recruiters.

We are leveraging legacy to lead and innovate.

We are shaping the future of communications.
